Grant application used by New Schools for New Orleans (NSNO) to award federal Investing in Innovation (i3) grant funds to charter operators that implemented restarts in New Orleans. The application includes differentiated eligibility requirements and funding levels for new vs. single site vs. multi-site charter organizations.
In order to be eligible for the NSNO i3 grant, new and existing charter operators had to receive approval from the Louisiana Department of Education to open a new charter school in New Orleans, and commit to open as a restart of a Recovery School District (RSD) school. The i3 restart grant program is an example of how a third party organization, independent from the restart authorizer, can play a critical role in recruiting and supporting restart operators.
