View Resource: Louisiana DOE Call To Action October 2013
This Louisiana Department of Education document is an information-rich presentation (37 pages) designed as a stand-alone document to communicate opportunities for Districts, charter organizations, educators, and other organizations to get involved in improving lowest-performing schools. The document details the need to develop innovative programs and school models in RSD, leadership opportunities, and the landscape of the various school regions in Louisiana, including school data. The statewide focus and “call” is not only specific to restarts and restart operators.
Outcomes and Lessons Learned: The Department of Education published this document to provide individuals and organizations seeking to create or turnaround schools with a one-stop-shop for information about the need and opportunities in Louisiana. This effort was very helpful for two reasons: 1) it made it easier for prospective applicants and operators to access information in one place, and 2) it allowed the Department of Education (and Recovery School District) to clearly articulate Louisiana’s primary needs.
