View Resource: Charter RFP Guidance for Applicants
This document presents the high-level needs and general process guidance for potential charter applicants to submit as a prospective restart operator. It is not the application guide itself, but rather a context setting invitation to applicants. It helps TN ASD generate a pool of qualified and approved operators who can then apply to serve as restart operators and then subsequently submit matching requests, once the actual restart schools are authorized.
NOTE: The ASD holds a “Creative Commons Attribution” license for this resource and requests that people interested in using part or all of the documents reach out to the ASD team. People/organizations interested in editable versions of a document should submit an ASD Help Desk ticket with their request(s).
Outcomes and Lessons Learned: The guidance document is made to be a “one-stop-spot” for all information potential applicants need to understand our context and submit a successful application. We have found, however, that applicants may miss important things – like links to application deadlines – within the document. We now pull out the most critical information, like the application timeline, and include it directly in the guide as well as in many other RFP documents. Anyone creating a guide will need to think through what other must-see information in the guide needs to be duplicated elsewhere. We’re also now working on a similar guidance document for the charter application reviewers to make sure both sides of the process have the same context and relevant information.
