View Resource: Camden RFP for Renaissance Schools
Camden school district used this RFP in January 2014 for its second round of Renaissance School projects, as established by New Jersey’s Urban Hope Act. The RFP outlines evaluation criteria and proposal requirements (e.g. education plan, staffing plan, financial plan, and student services). Mastery Charter Schools and Uncommon Schools were selected through this second round RFP. In the prior year, Camden selected KIPP New Jersey (with schools in Newark) in its round 1 RFP.
Outcomes and Lessons Learned: This RFP was successful in approving two new high potential renaissance projects into Camden. In an ideal timeline, more community engagement would have been completed before launching this RFP to ensure even better reflection of community and parent values within the RFP itself.
